Railway Budget--The interim Railway Budget is being presented today by Mr. Lalu Prasad Yadav today. This year being the election year lot of sops are being expected. In the previous years too even when the crude oil prices were high, the Railway Minister has announced lot of concessions to the travelling public and cut in the freight charges were announced. So, this being the case everyone is expecting lot of cuts in the fares as well in the freight charges.

Moreover due to the cut in the crude oil prices, it will help the railways to think heavy cut in the fares I hope. Let us keep our fingers crossed until the announcement is made.

HIGHLIGHTS

As the Budget presented today, the following are the highlights:

1. Railway has mobilized 90000 Crores in the last five years.
2. 2% reduction in fare of AC, Express and Mails.
3. Cushion seats will be provided in the place of wooden seats
4. Electrification of 1000 kms in the year 2008-2009
5. Scheme to introduce Bullet trains in important destinations.
6. 43 New trains will be introduced.
7. Due to strict safety measures, accident has come down.
