On 7 April 2009, P. Chidambaram was shoed by Jarnail Singh, a Sikh journalist who works at the Hindi daily Dainik Jagaran. Journalist Jarnail Singh from Dainik Jagran Newspaper hurled shoe at Home Minister of India P Chidambaram at a press conference in Delhi. Jarnail Singh justified his act by saying this was a sign of protest against the answer he got from the minister. Jarnail Singh asked home minister why CBI gave clean Chit to Mr. Jagdish Tytler in 1984 riots where thousands of Sikhs were massacred.
