Eligibility Criteria for admission to B.E/B.Tech.
A pass in 10+2 examination or a pass in one of the HSC (Vocational Stream) with Engineering/ Technology Vocational subjects and any ONE or TWO of related subjects like Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry with minimum marks in the relevant subjects.
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) candidates are eligible for all the programmes.
Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) candidates are eligible only for Biotechnology and Petro Chemical Technology programmes.
Candidates seeking admission should have appeared for the Periyar Maniammai
University Entrance Test – 2009 (PMUET – 2009).
Eligibility Criteria for admission to B.Arch.
50 % aggregate marks in 10+2 or a pass in 10+3 Diploma or IB Diploma with 40% marks in NATA.
For SC/ST candidates with not less than 45% marks in aggregate with 40% marks in NATA.
Candidates seeking admissions to B.Arch should have taken only NATA examination and not PMUET - 09.
Candidates have to submit their filled in application along with an attested copy
of the NATA score card.
Other state candidates Appearing for PUMET 2009
Candidates from states other than Tamil Nadu are also eligible for admission to B.Arch/ B.E/ B.Tech.degree programmes. They should furnish the Nativity Certificate and migration certificate issued by the competent authority.
Candidates for admission to B. Arch programme will be selected based on their
performance in the qualifying examination and in NATA conducted by COA, New Delhi.
Reservation: As per the norms of Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Govt. of India
EXAMINATION CENTRES (Region-wise) for PUMET 2009
In addition to the Centre at the Campus of PMU, the entrance test will be conducted in the following centres:
South: Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Nagerkoil, Neyveli, Perambalur, Salem,
Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Karaikudi, Vellore, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Vishakhapatnam, Bangalore, Cochin, Thiruvanandhapuram.
North: Dehradun, Chandigarh, New Delhi, Lucknow.
East: Kolkata, Bhubhaneshwar, Patna.
West: Mumbai, Bhopal, Nagpur, Jaipur, Ahmedabad.
Cost of application for PUMET 2009:
B.E./B.Tech. - Rs.750/- (Rs. 500/-for SC/ST Candidates)
B.Arch. - Rs.500/- (Rs. 350/- for SC/ST Candidates)

Dates to remember for PUMET 2009
Last date for sending filled-in application 30-04-2009
Date of Entrance Test 17-05-2009 Sunday (10 am to 12 noon)
Duly filled in application should be sent along with a demand draft covering the cost of application in favour of “The Registrar, PMU at Vallam, Thanjavur” payable at Thanjavur for the above said amount.
