Raju’s reality, which was once Ratan Tata’s dream, evoked mixed response on Day One, though the company said it will not be able to confirm the number of bookings done on Day One before Saturday. “In the last two weeks since we launched Nano, our 400-dealer outlets have had more than 3-lakh footfalls and the Nano official website has received 2-crore hits,” said Rajiv Dube, president (passenger vehicles), Tata Motors.
Industry experts, too, were reluctant to put a finger on the total bookings on Day One, as Nano can be booked through financial institutions, retail outlets and a portal, www.carwale.com. Of the approximately 5,000 Nanos (excluding banks and retail outlets) that were booked in Mumbai, around 300 were booked online and others through dealers.
Dealers across the country said customers were mostly going for the deluxe variants CX and LX, and sunshine yellow and racing red were the two preferred colours.
